    Reversing precarious work and building respect for an adequate standard of living (UDHR, Art. 25, ICESCR Art. 11) require increased attention to protecting and expanding income security. This CLE examines best practices and successes of human rights strategies, including litigation and legislation, in the US, Canada and Latin America.

    The session will be moderated by Prexy Nesbitt. He is an educator, writer, and organizer. He previously worked as staff to Mayor Harold Washington and was a former Special Representative of the Government of Mozambique in the US, Canada and Europe.

    Speakers:
    Jeanne Mirer is a labor and employment attorney in New York, president of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, and founding board member of the International Commission for Labor Rights. She will focus on international standards addressing precarious work.

    Enrique Larios is a labor attorney in Mexico City, a professor of law at UNAM, has been a visiting professor in Peru, Argentina, and Uruguay, and serves as vice president of the Asociación Latinoamericana de Abogados Laborales/ Latin American Labor Lawyers Association (ALAL). His focus will be on precarious work and Mexico.

    Linelle Mogado is a labor and human rights attorney at the Professional Institute of the Public Service in Canada and a member of the Canadian Association of Labor Lawyers/Association canadienne des advocats du movement syndical (CALL/ACAMS). She previously was director of Centro Legal de la Raza in Oakland. She will focus on Canadian issues and approaches to income inequality and precarious work.

    Rates: NLG member attorneys $30, non-NLG attorneys $40, legal workers and law students $15. Students and faculty from Chicago-Kent College of the Law will be admitted without charge.
