Workshop – ORGANIZING IN THE NEW ECONOMY/WORKER CENTERS: LABORATORIES OF WORKER DEMOCRACY
Friday, September 5th, 10:00 - 11:15 am
Brief description of the workshop:
This workshop will explore the diverse labor organizing efforts in the temporary labor sector, restaurants, warehouses and domestic worker campaigns to combat increasingly anti-worker laws and policies and declining union membership. Presenters will give an overview of worker centers as a model of alternative labor organizing, discuss ongoing campaigns, provide concrete and timely opportunities for lawyer-organizer collaboration, and facilitate discussion on social justice lawyering in the labor movement.
How does this workshop further the work of the NLG?
This workshop will focus on ongoing organizing and provide lawyers with a concrete way to get involved in furthering the mission of worker centers throughout the country.
