| Wilma Liebman, NLRB Chair |
On January 20, 2009, President Barack Obama designated Wilma B. Liebman as Chair of the National Labor Relations Board. Ms. Liebman has served on the NLRB since November 1997, having been originally appointed by President Clinton. Her current term expires August 2011.
Before joining the Board, she served from 1994 to 1997 at the Federal Mediation & Conciliation Service, first as Special Assistant tot he Director and then as Deputy Director. She began her legal career as an NLRB staff attorney in 1974, served on the legal staff for two unions - Teamsters (1980-1989) and Bricklayers (1990-1993). A native of Philadelphia, Ms Liebman holds a BA from Barnard College and a JD from George Washington University Law Center.
